Volunteering

At White County School System, we believe that education is a community effort. Together, we can strengthen our community, broaden our support network, and make a difference in the lives of our students. We are grateful for your support and encouragement as we continue to work together for the students of WCSS.

How to become a WCSS Volunteer
First, talk with the school office, athletic, or club trip sponsor to be sure there is a need for volunteers/chaperones. Choose an option, then follow these easy steps:

Option #1 Are you looking to be a short-term volunteer (visiting schools at most 2-3 times a year) or maybe chaperone one or two daytime field trips? If so, follow the steps below. If not, go to option #2.

1. Complete required Mandated Reporting Module*
2. ID Verification/Background Check (at school)
3. Pick up a sticker badge at School on the morning of the field trip or day of volunteering.

*It is required by law that volunteers complete the Mandating Reporting training each year.  Therefore, volunteer badges are valid for one school year only.

Option #2 Are you planning on volunteering regularly (weekly, monthly, or several days per month) or do you plan on regularly chaperoning school day field trips or athletic/club events? If so, follow the steps below. If overnight trip/event, go to option #3.

1. Complete the required Mandated Reporting Module*
2. Complete Long-term Badge Request
3. ID Verification/Background Check (at school)
4. Pick up your badge at the School Listed on the Badge Request Form

Final Step: Once you complete the requirements listed above, present your ID to the school office, and they will take it from here.
