Crisis Intervention Specialist/Mental Health

Hello, I am Francesca Smith. I am a Licesened Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Professional Clinical Supervisor (CPCS), and a Certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT) with the State of Georgia. I have been working in the mental health field since 1995. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults with minor mental health situations to those who have life long severe and persistent mental illness disorders.

I am the White County School System Crisis Intervention Specialist. A Crisis Intervention Specialist is a trained mental health professional who helps people in distress. A Crisis Intervention Specialist counsels people in danger of harming themselves; support those undergoing acute crises; and helps people dealing with other distressing issues, such as grief, depression and anxiety.

I believe that every person has a story to tell and a journey to take. It has been my professional goal to assist those who have had a difficult story and a bumpy journey. My desire is to help others find ways to break the stigma in their stories and make their journey worth living with calm, despite the detours that have happened.

I have been married to my husband Dan for 27 years and we have two children Owen (21) and Ada (18) who live their lives with adventure. We are huge Atlanta United Soccer fans and founding members and never miss a game. Along with soccer and spending time with my husband and children, I enjoy being out in nature and teaching mindfulness through the Art of Knitting. I can often be spotted with one of my current projects, knitting where ever I am, no matter what is going on around me. It is amazing what can be created with 2 sticks and a very long piece of string.
